HRH The Princess Royal Opens Equestrian Centre

Yesterday marked the official opening of the North Highland College UHI Equestrian Centre at Dale Farm, Halkirk. HRH The Princess Royal (Chancellor of the University of the Highlands and Islands) was the special guest invited to open the new international-sized arena.

Princess Anne arrived in style as she made her way off the royal chopper donning a pair of fabulous shades (the sunshine also made a surprise guest appearance!) She arrived early, and stayed late - showing a passion for the horses and much enthusiasm towards the equestrian studies, as she conversed with the students.

The hospitality team produced a stunning array of strawberry tarts, horse-shaped shortbread, tea and coffee - it was a classy affair - and it went down a treat with the guests, and The Princess Royal. Princess Anne was delightfully chatty and made her way around each part of the Equestrian Centre speaking to nearly all 130 guests which attended the event.

Equestrian students and Pony Club members put on a stunning riding display in the indoor arena, after which Princess Anne entered the arena to meet the horses and their owners. The Princess spoke highly of the North Highland College UHI and it's new facilities at Dale Farm saying that it was "The best in Scotland."
